Although the area is predominantly white (65.2% of the population), there is a vibrant and thriving multi-cultural community in the area. The people of Oceanside can be classified as friendly, peaceful and receptive to newcomers. Although the area is well within driving distance to big city living, oceanside life is quaint and a nice change of pace.

The summers are notably clear, warm and arid, with low precipitation. Winters tend to be partly cloudy but still with plenty of sun getting through, and markedly cooler (albeit still quite pleasant).
The average temperature throughout the year tends to be quite mild, fluctuating between 45-76 degrees Fahrenheit, with it rarely climbing above 83 degrees or falling below 38 degrees.
